OpenChecklist has just completed a quiet few months as the software has settled in and more people are discovering us, signing up and entering their collections.
Behind the scenes, the OpenChecklist software is starting to be re-written from an initial "look-what-we-can do" model to a structured software
environment which will allow easier modifications and expansions.
During this same period, the Collector Zone forums of our sister site,
TradingCardCentral.com have undergone a period of record growth with over 2,000 new
members and 100,000 new posts since April 2006.
Starting today, you will begin to see software changes being implemented to help you view and share your collection. Plus, look for a
recruitment drive later this year to help build the team and site to something truly great.
February 4, 2006 - One Month Update
Although OpenChecklist has been years in the planning, it's only been open to the public
for 1 month. Thanks to all (almost 100) of you that have taken the time to look around and
sign up. The number of people finding their way to the site has gone up week after week
and the number of returning visitors is engouraging.
Two ideals that have been strongly reinforced during the first month are:
By The Collector, For the Collector
Your feedback, through either the OpenChecklist
Feedback Page or Forums at TradingCardCentral.com have been
instrumental in helping to decide the functions you require and where to take this next. We want OpenChecklist to be a primary collecting
resource and the only way to do that is to build the functions and data that you, the collector, need.
We need help documenting the massive number of cards out there
Did you know that Upper Deck created 50,000 different cards between 2000 and 2005 for basketball alone? In fact, many feel that the over
1.4 million cards in OpenChecklist so far just represent the tip of the iceberg for many sports, entertainment and gaming cards. Over the coming
months, the OpenChecklist team will be trying to fill in the full picture, as well as provide more tools for people to create, share and update
checklists for the cards they are interested in and know the most about.
January 3, 2006 - OpenChecklist Opens Its Doors
What's some of the most useful information for collectors? Simple - checklists!
Until now, collectors found themselves searching across a number of web sites in order to track down
trading card checklists. Some of this data is available free of charge while some sites only make this
data available once you purchase other data such as price guides.
Well, this all just changed! Welcome to OpenChecklist.com - a database and Internet-based tool for
holding trading card checklist, want list and inventory data so that it can be shared with collectors
around the globe.
This site is fully functional for browsing checklist data and registering your collecting interests, so
register today!
Please note that we are currently working daily to update our extensive database. In fact, expect new
checklists and functionality to be added throughout 2006.
